Lizzie Borden took an Ax, Haunter, Mercy, V/H/S, Paranormal Activity 4, The Town that dreaded Sundown

Let me start out by saying I’m a huge movie buff. My goal is to watch movies, and give my opinions on them. Whether I am just rating a movie, or giving a full review, I want to let people know if they should watch a movie or not.  The title of this blog is a couple of the movies I have watched over the past couple of days. Before most people watch movies, they like to know what other people think so they don’t waste their time watching a bad movie.  Here are my ratings of the movies listed in the title.

Lizzie Borden took an Ax – 6/10

As you may have guessed,  Lizzie Borden took an Ax is about Lizzie Borden’s story.  I only know a couple of facts about the Lizzie Borden story so as to how close this movie came to depicting what actually happened, I really couldn’t say.  However, I can say that this movie was okay.  Not mind blowing, nor scary, but if one is curious about the Lizzie Borden story and does not feel like reading, this movie would be a good place to start.

Haunter – 6.7/10

Without ruining too much, Haunter follows Lisa Johnson, a young woman who is just about to turn 16. She wakes up every morning, the day before her 16th birthday, and the same events play over and over.  She is the only one in her family who realizes this.  Something strange is going on, not just because the same day plays over and over again, but because she hears voices and feels a strange presence.  What is truly going on with her and her family?  If you’re on netflix and are looking for a movie with good acting and a suspense factor, Check Haunter out.

Mercy – 5.8/10

When people are desperate, they sometimes turn to forces they do not understand.  George’s grandmother is ill and was in a nursing home, but his grandmother has more about her than meets the eye.  The people in the nursing home get a creepy feeling from her, and with her being not the easiest patient to take care of, George and his family have to take care of her.  Strange, evil events start taking place when George and his family move into his grandmother’s house to take care of her.

V/H/S (2012) – 2/10

A group of criminals is tasked with stealing a VHS for a high price.  When they break into the house, the find a dead body and a plethora of VHS movies.  Each movie that is shown is very strange.  I found this movie pretty confusing and boring with no real plot or scares in it.  I would suggest skipping this movie.

Paranormal Activity 4 – 5.8/10

Paranormal Activity 4 Movie Poster

Let me start by saying, do not watch this movie without watching the prior paranormal activities.  All of them are linked.  With that being said, this is my least favorite paranormal activity out of the first four of them.  Paranormal activity 4 starts to bring everything together.  This movie brings nothing new to the franchise.  The point of view is still from cameras held by the characters, there are still several pop up scares, and moments that make you say “WTF?”  If you’re a fan of the series, and liked the previous installments, I don’t see why you wouldn’t like this movie, unless you’re getting tired of what that have been doing.

The Town that Dreaded Sundown – 6.3/10

65 years ago a small town of Texarkana was terrorized by a masked serial killer.  Now he’s back, or someone copying him is back.  The story follows Jami who gets caught in the violence when her boyfriend is murdered by the killer right in front of her.  She is fascinated at trying to find the killer after this traumatic event.  Will she be able to find the killer before it’s too late? Definitely was not a bad movie by any means. Some of the plot lines feel used, but it is still a good movie worth a look.
