“Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi. You’re my only hope.” Word spoken by Princess Leia still ringing today. Words that if you listen closely, Star Wars Battlefront is saying.
Battlefront has nothing unique to it when talking about online multiplayer games. Yes, if you get lucky (in certain game modes) you get to play as an awesome character like Luke Skywalker or Darth Vader, but even that is rare. None of the game modes really stand out and feel engrossing. None of it seems very original.
On top of the lackluster game modes, the guns and the aiming system are worthless as well. There is no penalty for hip-firing, making it pointless to ever aim down the site at close to medium range combat. On top of this, there are no magazines just a recharge rate for your gun if you fire too much. Even if a player is inaccurate, it doesn’t affect him or her much in anyway.
When developing a game, producers and developers need to expand the envelope and test new boundaries. Online video games, especially ones that are extremely overhyped, are going to get compared to the juggernauts: Call of Duty, Battlefield, Halo, and now Destiny has thrown its name into the mix. Battlefront fails to compete with any of those top titles. Several which have a new title which were just released recently.
Battlefront is not horrible by any means. It is a beautiful game with a lot of game modes just none very captivating. One can find enjoyment running around as Sith Lords crushing the rebellion.
Positives: Beautiful game with great graphics. A lot of game modes to play. Playing as main characters such as Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, etc is extremely satisfying.
Negatives: Nothing original. Not very engrossing. Fails in comparison to gaming powerhouses.
While a beautiful game, Star Wars Battlefront fails to meet the hype that surrounded it.
